Friday forecast at Pebble

PEBBLE BEACH, Fla. – We're looking forward to another exciting telecast here at Pebble Beach. The weather should cooperate and the sun is expected to emerge.

Some of the marquee names at Pebble today include David Duval, who overcame a bad back on Monday to shoot 67 at Spyglass Hill. We also have Mark O'Meara, who is a five-time winner of this event.

O'Meara is in the middle of the Tiger Woods drama right now. It is very much on his mind. After finally addressing the media, he's trying to focus on his own game. It's tough. He shot 5 over yesterday at Spyglass but now heads to Pebble with his amateur partner Billy Payne. Yes, that Billy Payne – chairman of Augusta National.

I had a chance to chat with Payne this morning on the first tee and he told me he's not exactly playing to his 12 handicap these days but he's having a wonderful time. He has such a friendly and downhome demeanor and seems like the kind of guy you would want to partner with in an event like this.

Retief Goosen is a player to watch today and could be one to watch this week. He has a new driver in his bag that has increased his clubhead speed by 3 mph. A little extra distance in these soft conditions could, pardon the pun, really go a long way. He's grouped with Padraig Harrington and they are both good friends with their amateur partners. It's a relaxed setting for the international duo which could lead to low scores. Enjoy the coverage.
