Gator golf: Unexpected reptile part of RBC crowd

PGA Tour caddies work hard, wearing a lot of different hats for their players to succeed. Brian Gay's looper, Kip Henley, went above and beyond the call of duty on Thursday.
Reminiscent of a scene from "Happy Gilmore," Henley went on the offensive against a looming alligator.
Gay hit his approach shot into the hazard short and left of the par-5 15th hole at Harbour Town in the first round of the RBC Heritage. While Gay was figuring out how to play his fourth shot from a buried lie in the mud, a 6-foot alligator stuck around to observe.
With some moral support from playing partner Scott Verplank's caddie, Scott Tway, Henley grabbed a bunker rake and prodded the gator back into the water.
It took a few pokes, which Henley explained later in a tweet.
"The gator only had (one) front leg," he said. "I guess that is why he was so reluctant to take off. I was hoping the rules dude would (give) us free relief."
The rules official had no such sympathy for Gay, who escaped from the mud to make bogey and likely save a shot.
