GolfChannel.com's Baggs wins writing award

GolfChannel.com managing editor Mercer Baggs won a first-place award Thursday when the Golf Writers Association of America announced its annual writing awards.
Baggs won the Internet special projects category with his compilation of stories that revisited New Orleans five years after the destruction of Hurricane Katrina. (Click to read stories)
GolfChannel.com earned honorable mention in three other special projects. Baggs and assistant editor Bailey Mosier combined to author a yearlong project that followed three mini-tour players, senior writers Rex Hoggard, Randall Mell and Jason Sobel wrote a series of stories surrounding Seve Ballesteros’ death and Hoggard and Mell also were noted for their preview coverage of the Masters.
Additionally, Sobel won second-place in the Internet news category with his story following the U.S. Open which claimed that the Rory McIlroy Era had begun. (Click to read story)
All winners will be honored at the GWAA’s annual awards dinner April 4 in Augusta, Ga.
