Greis named chair of the LPGA Board of Directors

Leslie Greis has been named chair of the LPGA Board of Directors, the organization announced Monday.

A member of the board since 2007, Greis headed the committee which brought current commissioner Michael Whan to the LPGA in 2009.

“Leslie brings a unique blend of business success, golf industry experience and the understanding of competitive play,” said Whan in a release. “Her ability to navigate business obstacles, while understanding the challenge of running a professional sports association, makes her a perfect fit for LPGA leadership.”

Greis said, “I look forward to working with commissioner Mike Whan and my talented colleagues on the board, both LPGA members and independent directors, to continue to expand the LPGA and its opportunities for the next generation of professional women golfers.”

Greis is founder of Perennial Capital Advisors in Boston, an investment management firm matching institutional investors with private real estate.

The new chair also has extensive experience in the game. During her undergraduate work at Harvard University, Greis became the only woman ever to play on the Harvard varsity men's golf team. She has served as independent director of the PGA of America and was the second woman to ever hold that position.

Greis will lead a board comprised of five other independent directors, six player directors, commissioner Mike Whan and Dana Rader, the national president of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professionals.
