Hall-of-Fame shot

MOBILE, Ala. – I got a chance to witness an unbelievable golf shot up close and in person on Sunday. Se Ri Pak was in a fairway bunker on the third playoff hole of the Bell Micro LPGA Classic. Suzann Pettersen had already been eliminated and it was down to Pak and Brittany Lincicome.

Lincicome was in perfect position while Pak had 164 yards from a fairway bunker. The green was rock hard and I didn't think she had any chance of getting the ball within 25 feet of the hole. I was standing in the right rough about halfway between Se Ri and the green. I could tell she made solid contact and I was surprised to see the ball on line with the flag. If it carried to the putting surface it would bound over and if it was more than two paces short it would be gobbled up by the front bunker.

The ball landed in the only place that would allow it to get near the hole. The area is about the size of a baby blanket and she hit it dead center. Ultimately Pak made the putt and picked up career victory No. 25. This win had to be one of her most treasured because the last one came in 2007. And the shot that won it for her was one of the best I have ever seen. Pak certainly lived up to her Hall of Fame credentials with that amazing golf shot.
