Golf lost one of its best earlier this week when PGA professional Ed Hoard died at the age of 63.
Hoard was a member of the PGA of America National Hall of Fame, a former PGA National Professional of the Year and PGA National Horton Smith Award recipient. His other awards and achievements are too numerous to mention here.
His love, respect and knowledge for the game and, in particular, the Rules of Golf were exceeded by no one. He set high marks in our game by exhibiting great humbleness in the face of great achievement, and grace in the face of being egregiously wronged.
He served golf faithfully and will be sorely missed. I am proud and fortunate to have called Ed Hoard my friend.
