ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – It’s still more than a month before the PGA Tour mails out ballots for Player of the Year but the consensus is Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., should box up the Nicklaus Award and drive it down A1A to Jim Furyk’s house.
Matt Kuchar is currently No. 1 on the money list and a half dozen players have multiple Tour titles, but Furyk’s three victories and the FedEx Cup crown seem to be the deciding factor in the PoY balloting.
“I’d have to give the nod to Jim,” Mark Wilson said. “He won more times. If you had an award for the most consistent player it’s Kuchar. But Jim is the guy.”
