His wire-to-wire victory Sunday at the Dunlop Phoenix returned Luke Donald to No. 2 in the world.
But the Englishman was far from the only player to rise in the rankings as the season draws to a close.
Miguel Angel Jimenez, who at age 48 became the oldest winner in European Tour history on Sunday, moved from 98th to 59th in the world after his one-shot victory at the Hong Kong Open. He began the year at No. 44.
Also making a significant jump was Henrik Stenson, who rose from 113th to 71st after his win at the South African Open, which snapped a three-year winless drought.
Another player who hoisted a trophy on Sunday wasn’t as fortunate. Adam Scott, who began the week at world No. 5, failed to jump Lee Westwood in the rankings with his victory at the hometown Australian Masters, though the gap between the two players is now negligible (.008 points).
Aside from Donald’s ascension to world No. 2, the rest of the top 10 remained largely unchanged: World No. 1 Rory McIlroy, Donald, Tiger Woods, Westwood, Scott, Louis Oosthuizen, Justin Rose, Jason Dufner, Webb Simpson (up from 10th) and Brandt Snedeker (down from 9th).
