Kaymer refreshed after gardening at grandmother's

Martin Kaymer may struggle at Augusta National in a quest to land a green jacket, but the world No. 14 has gained a green thumb.

Kaymer spent some time at home with his grandmother in Germany on Monday, working in the garden and cutting the grass because she is unable to do it at her age.

“Monday was a relaxed day at my grandma’s house. We did a little bit in the backyard,” Kaymer said Wednesday at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open.

Four hours' worth of work was enough to melt away some job-related stress.

“I think maybe you can call it therapy, to get completely away from golf, think about something else, just do normal work," he said. "That’s what I enjoy once in a while."

Kaymer has dropped to No. 14 in the Official World Golf Ranking, with his best finish this season being a seventh-place finish at the Maybank Malaysian Open in April. The 2010 PGA champion hopes a few hours away from the game might help reinvigorate his season.

"Just to get away from golf a little bit and think about something completely different," Kaymer said. "When I arrived here, I felt totally refreshed."
