No sweat: Christina Kim suffers from dehydration

Christina Kim

Christina Kim had a minor medical scare on Thursday after the first round of the HSBC Women’s Champions in Singapore.

Kim suffered from a bout of dehydration while competing in her first round of the limited-field event. After going out in 2-over 38 at Tanah Merah CC’s Garden Course, Kim struggled into the house. She shot 43 to finish at 9-over 81 and in 62nd place in the 63-player field.

Following the round, Kim took to Twitter to explain her situation. At a local medical center, Kim tweeted she was suffering from clear signs of dehydration – blurred vision and an inability to sweat.

Eventually, Kim was attended to, but did not require intravenous fluid. The doctor told her, instead, “Just loads of electrolytes, water and an impromptu nap!”

Kim is still in the tournament field, according to the LPGA.
