Before picking up Steve Williams on a temporary, then permanent, basis, Aussie Adam Scott recently ended a 7-year relationship with caddie Tony Navarro. Since then, Navarro has been doing some work with two-time major winner Angel Cabrera, but it was unclear if that was a long-term assignment.
On Thursday, Navarro told his hometown paper in Moline, Ill., that he is ready to answer Woods’ call if the 14-time major winner would like him to serve as his new looper.
“Yeah, I think I can safely say if that happened, I would take that call,” Navarro, 51, told the Quad City Times. “I would be silly not to take that opportunity, yes.”
Navarro was then asked if he had already received a phone call.
“I have not been contacted by Tiger,” he said. “I have to leave it at that.”
That probably means, though, that Navarro is out of the running for a switcheroo of caddies. But, it remains unclear who Woods will select as his next caddie.
