Something is missing this week at Pebble Beach Golf Links and, no, it’s not what’s-his-name who ran the Monterey table the last time the National Pro-Am and U.S. Open were held on the seaside gem.
Arron Oberholser’s lone Tour title came at Pebble Beach (2006) and the NorCal native has been an area staple since his amateur days, but he’s not in this week’s field and may not be back on Tour anytime soon.
According to Oberhlser’s manger with Gaylord Sports “AO” underwent surgery on his right hip to repair a torn labrum on Feb. 2. The surgery was conducted by Colorado’s Dr. Marc Philippon, dubbed the hip doctor of the stars in some circles for his work with Greg Norman, Alex Rodriguez and others.
Although the surgery was successful Oberholser is expected to be on crutches for seven weeks and it could be months before he returns to the Tour.
Oberholser missesd most of the last two seasons because of a left-wrist injury.
