DORAL, Fla. – Phil Mickelson was searching for answers on the Doral putting green at 11:30 a.m. Sunday and his left elbow, which he said he “stung” while hitting his approach shot to the 18th green on Saturday, didn’t seem to be bothering him.
“No problems,” Mickelson’s trainer Sean Cochran said in a text message Sunday. “(We) worked out this morning with zero restrictions.”
Mickelson – who has been steady if not somewhat unspectacular this week with rounds of 71-69-72 – begins the final round at 1:15 p.m. and eight strokes behind co-leaders Ernie Els and Charl Schwartzel.
Although he didn’t talk with the media after the third round, Mickelson released a statement saying his elbow was “a little tender” after hitting into the ground at the last hole but that he was “not concerned.”
