ROGERS, Ark. – Officials at the P&G NW Arkansas Championship have cancelled Thursday's pro-am which should come as no surprise because wet weather and this 54-hole event go hand in hand. The inaugural tournament in 2007 was reduced to just 18 holes, a year later rain plagued the event again and last year was also a soggy affair. Its no different in 2010.
The remnants of hurricane Hermine slowly moved through on Wednesday afternoon, and hung around again today. As of lunchtime Thursday, the course had taken on over three inches of rain in the past few days.
Thursday's pro-am was washed-out with sponsors Wal-mart and Proctor & Gamble making the decision to forgo a lucrative day of on-course entertaining in order to keep the Pinnacle Country Club in prime condition.
The forecast calls for Friday's opening round to be played in sunshine with only a small chance for a shower on Saturday afternoon.
