Phil Mickelson will be announced as the newest member of the World Golf Hall of Fame in a Thursday press conference in Singapore, according to the Florida Times-Union.

The St. Augustine-based Hall of Fame has called a press conference at the Barclays Singapore Open, where Mickelson is playing this week ahead of the Presidents Cup. A player becomes eligible when he has both turned 40 and amassed 20 victories between time on the PGA and Champions tours.

Now 41, Mickelson has met the career performance requirements for induction since 2003. The four-time major winner has 39 PGA Tour wins, has been a member of eight Ryder Cup and nine Presidents Cup teams.

Mickelson was added to the ballot for induction in 2012 after turning 40 in June 2011. 14 players were on the PGA Tour portion of the ballot distributed in September.

The 2012 induction ceremony for the Hall of Fame will be on May 7, 2012.
