Rose wins one for Kieran

Moments after two-putting for a routine, title-clinching par at the BMW Championship Justin Rose told NBC Sports’ analyst Roger Maltbie that he was dedicating his textbook finish to “Kieran.”

“I’m just proud of the two swings I made coming down the stretch. There’s someone watching at home. Those two swings there were for Kieran,” Rose said.

Rose was referring to Kieran Malcolm Foley, swing coach Sean Foley’s son who was born in late August and just recently released from a central Florida hospital.

“I couldn’t be happier for him,” said Foley, who worked with Rose on Tuesday at Cog Hill. “Rosy excised some demons today. It is tough hearing everyone tell you how good you are and you’re not producing. But if you look at it he has three (Tour) wins in 15 months. That’s amazing.”

Foley said the key to Rose’s victory was his resilience, particularly during Sunday’s downpour, and his putting, including a 17-for-18 stretch from 10 feet and in during the final round.
