Saving livesthrough golf

Listening to Greg Norman today talk about the reasons he became involved with CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation reminded me of what golf is really about – saving thousands of lives through its charitable donations.

Norman told the story he experienced 20 years ago, when he watched Dr. Richard Andresi work with kids who had never seen green grass or the ocean. The Shark, who was and still is the steeliest of competitors, melted when he saw these children fighting the deadliest of juvenile diseases.

Funds from his Shark Shootout have made a significant difference over the last two decades. CureSearch helped finance an experimental treatment that has caused a 20 percent increase in cure rates for neuroblastoma. Norman is so proud to be associated with an event and a sport that makes a such a difference.
