Scott's putting 'spotty' on Day 1 of Bridgestone

AKRON, Ohio – In his first competitive round after suffering heartbreak at The Open Championship two weeks ago, Adam Scott opened with a 1-over 71 at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Thursday.
It did feature an adventure on the par-4 14th hole, where he four-putted from 9 feet away.
Scott’s first putt ran 3 feet past, then his par attempt went another 3 feet past and his bogey effort went another foot past the hole before he mercifully tapped in for double.
"I think I played well, but certainly my putting was a bit spotty," Scott said. "I kind of switched off there for a second on the 14th green. I played fine, but just didn't really have the pace of the greens at all. I went from charging everything to leaving things short."
It was reminiscent of an old Seve Ballesteros episode in which he answered a question about four-putting by explaining, “I miss, I miss, I miss, I make.”
