Spieth receives invites to Pebble, Puerto Rico

The PGA Tour’s condensed season figured to provide scarce opportunities for non-members, but Jordan Spieth has encountered no such problems thus far.
The 19-year-old has received sponsor exemptions into the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Puerto Rico Open and Web.com Tour’s Panama Claro Championship, according to a report Wednesday by Golfweek.
Spieth turned pro last month after only one full season at Texas, where he helped lead the Longhorns to the NCAA Championship. The low amateur at the 2012 U.S. Open, Spieth has made the cut in six of his eight career PGA Tour starts, including a T-16 in 2010 at his hometown HP Byron Nelson Championship, where he was in contention until the back nine Sunday. (He finished T-32 at the 2011 Nelson, after a Sunday 77.)
In addition to these spot starts, the Dallas native seems a strong candidate to receive at least one exemption during the Tour’s Texas Swing. (He tied for 41st at last year’s Valero Texas Open.) Non-members are limited to seven sponsor exemptions per season on Tour.
Spieth’s pro debut will come at Pebble Beach on Feb. 7-10, followed by the Web.com’s season opener in Panama, which begins Feb. 21.
