Thompson makes pro deput on LPGA Tour

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Alexis Thompson started her professional career today at the ShopRite LPGA Classic near Atlantic City, N.J. The results were a bit mixed but she should be proud of her effort in posting a round of even par. The only sign of nerves came at the first where she was a bit jabby with a 20-incher for par. After that she settled down and started making some birdies.

Alexis was strong and long off the tee but a bit tentative with the short irons and on the greens. And this was very understandable as she is still just 15 years old! Alexis certainly has all the tools to become a successful LPGA player but membership will have to wait at least two years. Strongly in her favor is the fact that the Thompson family already has quite a bit of experience in the world of professional golf with older brother Nicholas currently in his 4th year as a PGA Tour member.

The key for Alexis will be to maintain priorities and keep life and golf in perspective. I think Alexis and the family are up to the challenge. It will be fun to watch this young lady develop.
