KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Weather so far here at the PGA Championship has been awful, there’s no sugarcoating it. It rained heavily on Monday at the Ocean Course and Tuesday brought more rain, lightning and weather delays.
At one point during Tiger Woods news conference Tuesday, it was raining so hard that he could barely hear questions being asked to him through a microphone.
“Huh, could you speak up, I can’t hear you,” Woods said, only half joking.
The weather isn’t expected to cooperate for the remainder of the week either. According to various weather reports there is at least a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms each day until next Tuesday, when the percentage drops to 20.
“The rain is certainly one part of the unique characteristics of playing right on the ocean,” said PGA of America set-up man Kerry Haigh. “The weather is a very important part of what we’ll be looking at all week (in determining course set up).”
