A trip halfway around the planet couldn’t help Michelle Wie shake her struggling form.

Wie missed her fourth consecutive cut Friday, this one coming at the Salonpas Cup, the Japan LPGA Tour’s first major of the season. Morgan Pressel is going for her second Salonpas Cup title in three years. She leads Jiyai Shin by two shots going into the final round of the rain-shortened event reduced to 54 holes.

With rounds of 76 and 71 at Ibaraki Golf Club outside Tsubaki, Wie missed the cut by a shot. She missed back-to-back LPGA cuts at the Kia Classic, the Lotte Championship and Kraft Nabisco.

The LPGA’s next event is the Sybase Match Play Championship in two weeks.
