Tiger's putting to thank for 68 on Day 2

Tiger Woods

BETHESDA, Md. – Tiger Woods turned another ho-hum round at the AT&T National into something worth talking about with one 45-footer for eagle at the par-5 16th hole that lifted him into red figures and within a field goal of the lead.

Woods followed his 1-over 72 on Day 1 with a 68 that moved him to 2 under par, three strokes behind front-runners Brendon de Jonge and Jimmy Walker.

Despite his only bogey of the round at No. 1, his 10th hole of the day, Woods finished with two birdies on his last five holes.

Although he had an identical card statistically to Day 1 (7 of 14 fairways hit and 11 of 18 greens in regulation), his putting (27 putts) made the difference on Friday.
