You Oughta Know: AT&T National at Congressional

BETHESDA, Md. – Before the fans return to Congressional for the final round of the AT&T National, here are some things You Oughta Know.

• Tiger Woods trails Brendon de Jonge by a shot after three rounds on 6 under par. Woods is looking for his third win this season, 74th career PGA Tour title and his second win in this event. The last time he won the AT&T National was here in 2009, his last season before this one with multiple PGA Tour wins (6).

• De Jonge leads after 54 holes for the first time in his PGA Tour career. The 31-year-old from Zimbabwe has a trio of third-place finishes in his career, all in 2010 at The Greenbrier Classic and in two opposite-field events at the Puerto Rico Open and the Viking Classic. 

A win would have somewhat local ties for de Jonge, who graduated from Virginia Tech.

• Bo Van Pelt will be the third member of the final group on Sunday, going off at 1:15 p.m. Van Pelt has just one PGA Tour win to his credit, taking the 2009 U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee. Van Pelt is third on the PGA Tour this year in final round scoring average. Last year, he was T-72.

BVP has five top-10 finishes this season on the PGA Tour, which leaves him just one behind Jason Dufner and Matt Kuchar for most this year.

• In arguably the most difficult conditions he has faced all season, Billy Hurley III posted the best round of his rookie PGA Tour year on Saturday at Congressional. Shooting 5-under 66, Hurley beat his round of the year by a shot. That round came last week on Friday at the Travelers Championship, a much easier golf course than this one. 

Five of Hurley's last seven PGA Tour rounds have been in the 60s – more than the rest of the year combined and same as the number of rounds in the 80s this year (4).

• After a day where fans and most volunteers were told not to come to Congressional, they will both be welcomed back on Sunday. Gates will open at up at 9 a.m., with threesomes going off Nos. 1 and 10 starting around 11 a.m. Those who had tickets for Saturday will be admitted on Sunday.
