Golf Channel Reporter Tom Abbott is in Naples, Florida this week for the CME Group Titleholders. GolfChannel.com offered an opportunity for people to vote for who they wanted to see in a Featured Grouping during first round coverage and fans selected Brittany Lincicome, Gerina Piller, and Stacy Lewis. Abbott said that he was a bit surprised by the result because Lewis made a very late rally to get into the top 3 and that shows the power of the internet to generate support.
Stacy Lewis may be the 2012 LPGA Tour Player of the Year but she is still very motivated this week because she wants to be World #1 and she is closer than ever to taking over the spot from Yani Tseng. Tseng has actually said this year that she has been under a great deal of pressure as the World #1 and that she actually understands why Annika Sorenstam and Lorena Ochoa – both former World #1 players – decided to retire from competitive golf early.
