Thumbnail

A test event is being held Tuesday at the Olympic Golf Course in Rio de Janeiro, site of golf’s return to the Olympic Games in August. The Aquece Rio Golf Challenge features nine Brazilian players, five men – Alexandre Rocha, Rafael Becker, Daniel Stapff, Lucas Lee and Rafael Barcellos – and four women – Miriam Nagl, Candy Hannemann, Victoria Lovelady and Luciane Lee.

Here’s a look at some of the sights from the Gil Hanse-designed layout:

First look at the Olympic Course in Rio today. Didn’t get to play but walked all 18 holes. Let’s just say that the World is in for a treat in August...Gil Hanse did an amazing job! The place is brand new and yet it looks like it’s been here forever. Long, fast greens, plenty of bunkers and a bit of a raw look that reminds me of golf in the British Isles. Did I mention hard?! Really hard! A photo posted by Alexandre Rocha (@alexrochagolf) on Mar 7, 2016 at 1:15pm PST

A couple more looks at the beautiful course. Can’t wait to get started tomorrow... I’ve been told I will be given the honor of hitting the very first shot ever tomorrow as I will be the first to hit on the first group. I can’t describe how thankful I am with this opportunity. #rio2016#HailState A photo posted by Alexandre Rocha (@alexrochagolf) on Mar 7, 2016 at 1:18pm PST
