Creamer finishes season on high note

Paula Creamer

ORLANDO, Fla. – Paula Creamer didn’t get the victory she wanted Sunday at the CME Group Titleholders Championship, but she ended a winless season with some momentum for the offeason.

“It’s been a year of almost there but not quite good enough,” Creamer said. “But in the last couple tournaments, I definitely played a lot better. My attitude on the golf course this year was 100 times better than I believe it’s ever been.”

Creamer was looking for her 10th LPGA victory, her first since the U.S. Women’s Open last year. She finished fifth or better seven times this season, twice finishing runner-up, including Sunday at Grand Cypress Resort. Creamer gave herself countless chances in the final round with stellar ball striking, but her putting failed her, leaving her two shots behind Hee Young Park, the winner. Creamer three-putted from 4 feet at the third hole. She missed three putts from 6 feet or less over the first four holes.

“Confidence-wise, I think I’m back,” Creamer said. “When you struggle, your confidence tends to go away, and these last couple events, I’ve definitely got that back.

“I’m really looking forward to the offseason. I want to win. I want to be the best, and I know what it takes.”
