World No. 1 Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott and Phil Mickelson will headline the field at this year’s Barclays Singapore Open, tournament officials told the AFP on Tuesday.
Touted as “Asia’s major,” the Singapore Open, scheduled for Nov. 8-11 at Sentosa Golf Club, features a $6 million purse and strong field.
McIlroy will play the event as part of an Asian swing in which he will tee it up at the BMW Masters in Shanghai and in a one-day exhibition with Tiger Woods in China.
Scott has won this event three times, in 2005, ’06 and ’10.
Mickelson, who has played the past five Singapore Opens, is seeking his first win in the event.
Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano won last year’s weather-plagued event, beating Juvic Pagunsan in a playoff.
