KOHLER, Wis. – The U.S. Women’s Open is delivering some serious star power on its leaderboard heading into the weekend.

Suzann Pettersen (-5) and Michelle Wie (-4) will go off in the final pairing Saturday at the U.S. Women’s Open.

Cristie Kerr (-4), fiery and highly motivated this week to win her second U.S. Women’s Open and reclaim her spot as the top-ranked American in the world, will start right in front of them, within a shot of the lead.

Sandra Gal (-3), voted this year as winner of Golf Digest’s “hottest player” contest, is in the mix.

Lexi Thompson (-1), trying at 17 to become the youngest man or woman to win a major, is also in contention.

World No. 1 Yani Tseng and No. 2 Stacy Lewis will be looking to make moves from their spots seven shots back.

Not all the big names played their way into the weekend.

Morgan Pressel withdrew after making a 10 at the 14th hole. She’s suffering from tendinitis in her right thumb and wrist. Natalie Gulbis, Juli Inkster, Christina Kim and Cheyenne Woods were among popular players who missed the cut.
