Wi cards season-high 13 at Transitions

Less than a week after Sergio Garcia carded a 12 at Doral, Charlie Wi did him one worse on Sunday at Innisbrook.

Wi made an octuple-bogey 13 at the par-5 fifth hole on the Copperhead Course in the Transitions Championship.

After hitting a 246-yard tee shot to the the right side of the fairway at the 605-yard hole, Wi hit his second shot into the treeline. His third shot bounded further into the woods, according to ShotLink, leading to a penalty stroke.

Wi repeated the process - attempting extraction and taking the subsequent penalty shot - twice more. Lying eight, he took two additional shots to extricate himself from the forest. Wi hit the green from 199 yards with his 11th shot, then took two putts from 10 feet to card a 13.

The 13 is the highest score this season on the PGA Tour, surpassing Garcia. It is still five shots shy, however, of the highest single-hole score in PGA Tour history. John Daly owns that mark, with an 18 at the par-5 sixth hole at Bay Hill in the 1998 Arnold Palmer Invitational.

For the other 17 holes, Wi played 1-under par. He shot 78 in the final round to finish in 77th place - last among players making the cut this week.
