RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Lindsey Wright won a new wave of fans sharing her recovery from anxiety and depression.
Wright, who shot 1-under-par 71 in the second round and sits two shots behind Yani Tseng at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, said she spent most of Friday morning before her afternoon tee time checking a lengthy batch of emails and Facebook messages.
“It was really good positive responses from people,” said Wright, 32, who is seeking to make her first LPGA title a major. “It was encouraging. A couple of people I played golf with, and know from golf, came out and said `I feel the same way, I’m struggling right now. It’s encouraging to have somebody like yourself say something.’ It’s nice to know that it’s going to help somebody else by saying how I felt and maybe come to terms with their own personal problems.”
Wright first shared her story after winning in New Zealand earlier this year. She told her struggles on a more national stage Thursday at Mission Hills after taking the first-round lead.
