Donald No. 1 again; Els sits 62nd

Luke Donald is once again No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking. After winning the Transitions Championship in a four-man playoff at Innisbrook, Donald leapfrogged Rory McIlroy for the top spot.

McIlroy was No. 1 for two weeks, but his reign is not the shortest in the 26-year history of the ranking. Greg Norman had three one-week reigns, while Seve Ballesteros and Tiger Woods did that twice. Nick Faldo, Fred Couples, Ernie Els, David Duval and Tom Lehman all were in the top spot for a week. Lehman is the only player who held the top spot solely a week.

Donald will be No. 1 going into the Masters as McIlroy is idle until then, while No. 3 Lee Westwood cannot catch the Englishman.

Webb Simpson and Justin Rose swapped seventh and eighth, respectively. Hunter Mahan fell out of the top 10, as Adam Scott jumped to ninth and Jason Day dropped to 10th.

The trio of runners-up at Innisbrook also gained ground in the ranking. Sang-Moon Bae gained 16 places to land at No. 27, while Jim Furyk jumped seven places to No. 54. Robert Garrigus moved 23 spots to 68th.

Ernie Els is still shy of the top 50 in the ranking and a spot in the Masters, moving up six places to No. 62. He must gain 12 spots this week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational to qualify for Augusta National.

Open de Andalucia winner Julien Quesne moved to 183rd from 322nd. Matteo Manaserro must win in Morocco this week to qualify for the Masters, sitting at 61st after finishing solo second in Spain.

As he prepares to compete in the Arnold Palmer Invitational this week, Tiger Woods remains at No. 18.
