The PGA Tour takes the country roads back home to West Virginia this week for the Greenbrier Classic. The Old White course, damaged somewhat by last week’s ‘derecho’ that also impacted the AT&T National at nearby Congressional CC, plays host. Scott Stallings returns as defending champion, a year after defeating Bill Haas and Bob Estes in a playoff.

1. Tiger Woods: Woods is making his Greenbrier debut but, with three PGA Tour wins this season and as its most recent champion, he is the clear chance to win anywhere.
2. Webb Simpson: The U.S. Open champion will not be playing at the British Open, instead spending time with his wife Dowd for the birth of their second child. He finished T-29 in the shootout at Travelers last time out and was T-9 here a year ago.
3. Jim Furyk: Furyk finished T-34 last week at the AT&T National but continues to enjoy a renaissance this season. He will improve as the U.S. Open gets further in the rear-view mirror.
4. Seung-yul Noh: As teacher Sean Foley has said, soon you’ll know his name more. Noh finished T-4 at Congressional and is figuring it out on the PGA Tour. He has three top-10 finishes in his last seven PGA Tour starts.
5. Brendon de Jonge: The Zimbabwean may have fallen off in the final round at the AT&T National, but is great in this tournament. He has finished third and T-4 in the two-year existence of this event.
6. Dustin Johnson: The Memphis winner missed the U.S. Open cut and was T-44 last week at Congressional. His power should have been an asset in both places and wasn’t. It should be at the Old White TPC.
7. Jimmy Walker: Walker has finished T-4 here both years of the tournament. He finished T-32 last week after getting off to a good start at the AT&T National.
8. Bob Estes: Estes was part of a three-man playoff here a year ago. He has been playing good golf since April, missing just two cuts.
9. Phil Mickelson: Mickelson missed the cut here last year, but is 12th on Tour in strokes gained putting. With Tiger in the field, Phil might be invigorated.
10. Carl Pettersson: Pettersson is ninth on Tour in strokes gained putting. In what can unfold as a putting contest, that stat should help the Swede.
