Turns out Tianlang Guan will be more than a one-hit wonder in the States.
The 14-year-old has accepted a sponsor exemption into the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, to be played April 25-28 at TPC Louisiana.
Said Steve Worthy, the CEO of the Fore!Kids Foundation, whose organization hosts the Zurich: “Tianlang Guan represents the aspirations of millions of young golfers and golf fans of all ages worldwide.”
Last year, Guan’s family stayed in New Orleans as he worked with a local club’s junior golf program. He also played a U.S. Open qualifier there but failed to advance.
Guan became not only the youngest participant to play in the Masters, but also the youngest to make the cut. He shot 12-over 300 to finish 58th.
The Zurich already boasts a strong field, with defending champion Jason Dufner, Justin Rose, Ernie Els, Rickie Fowler, Keegan Bradley and Thorbjorn Olesen committed to play.
