Weekly Fix: Swing path, posture and setup position

RSS

Welcome back to Weekly Fix! I’m Tim Cooke and we're taking a closer look at your swings right here each week on GolfChannel.com in hopes of helping you play better golf.

This week, we’re going to analyze Michael’s golf swing.

Michael has a good swing and I especially like his setup, but he hits some hooks and blocks, which we want to help him get rid of.

And as we'll discuss in our analysis this week, those misses have a lot to do with his swing path and his posture.

Popular golf instruction tips:  Setup Full SwingPower Accuracy

In summary, some of the ideas I would suggest that everyone take away from this week’s analysis would include the following:

• Because of the length of the club, when hitting their driver many golfers stand too far away from the ball. But ideally you want your arms to just hang down naturally from the shoulders at address.

• When your swing path is traveling too much from in to out, you can expect to hit shots offline. Where those shots start will be determined by the clubface at impact and the ball will then curve away from the path.

• One key to making solid, centered contact time and again is being able to stay in your 'posture' throughout the downswing and through impact. And to do that make sure that your pelvis stays back so you don't overly 'tuck' the hips into the golf ball.

That’s it for this week’s edition of Weekly Fix. Keep sending us your videos at WeeklyFix@GolfChannel.com, and we’ll be back with a new edition right here next week.
